Don’t let the beach fool you – Downtown San Diego is a vibrant, progressive, metropolitan city. Neatly packed into a single square-mile grid between the 5 freeway and the Harbor, downtown has culture, entertainment, and opportunity. It is also home to the famous Gaslamp Quarter.
By day, downtown San Diego is soaring skyscrapers bustling with big business, old turn-of-the-century buildings, shopping districts, and peaceful parks. By night, these same buildings house award-winning restaurants, trendy nightclubs, and sleek lounges. Other attractions include shopping at Horton Plaza, watching baseball games at Petco Park, exploring the aircraft carrier and cruise ships in the Harbor, enjoying concerts at the waterfront Embarcadero, viewing art work in trendy East Village, exploring the shops and attractions in Seaport Village, sailing on the scenic Harbor, and taking in the opera at the Civic Center. Just a short cab ride or brisk walk away is the world-famous San Diego Zoo, spacious Balboa Park, and Lindbergh Field international airport. To get around, downtown San Diego has a wonderful trolley system, many pedicabs, romantic horse-drawn carriages, and of course an ample supply of taxis. Downtown’s Santa Fe Train Depot is an Amtrak stop, which can take you just about as far north as you want to go.
Real estate in downtown San Diego has flourished in the last few years. Upscale high-rise condominiums support a growing community of cosmopolitan urbanites, and offer dwellings with a ‘lofty’ feel and amazing views.
