Pacific & Mission Beach / Bay
(92109)
Pacific Beach (PB as the locals call it), Mission Beach, and Mission Bay offer the stereotypical California Dream. Wake up, walk to the coffee shop, work a few hours (or not), then surf or ride your bike down the boardwalk before heading out for tacos or sushi. This diverse community is occupied by college students, vacationers, young professionals, families, and anyone else wanting to see and be seen near the beach.
The historic roller coaster at Belmont Park marks the center of this trendy area. South is Mission Beach, east is Mission Bay, and north is Pacific Beach. Here, many individual homes and multi-family residences are on the water and offer the views you find on postcards. Looking down from these patios you’ll find plenty of sunbathers, surfers, and skateboarders. When the sun sets, Garnet Ave. rises with fun restaurants, bars, and clubs. During the day, the doors on this street open to boutiques, skate shops, and bars. In this area, most everything is local and homegrown.
If you are looking for a weekend getaway that’ll have your old friends calling to re-connect, this is it. Beach bonfires, beachfront bars, calm waves at the bay or surf-worthy breaks in the ocean cater to fun-seeking families, romantic couples, old friends, or anyone looking to ‘escape.’
